Dime size silver coin, with the coat of arms on the obverse.<br>During the financial upheaval of 1914-1925, many Central and South American countries experienced massive inflation. For Costa Rica, this resulted in the devaluation of their currency, the change from 90% silver coins to those with 50% silver (or no silver at all), and the counterstamping of most of their coinage to double the face value of the old coins.
